Dead Island to receive extensive day one patch

Tuesday, 6th September 2011 03:51 GMT By Brenna Hillier

A few of the detracting niggles dragging down Dead Island’s review scores are likely to see correction in a launch-day patch.

Destructoid has posted the substantial patch notes in their entirety; 37 fixes are detailed.

Of particular note is mention of “improved enemy awareness” and “fixed enemy reaction to fire” – several reviews have been critical of the game’s AI.

There are a number of fixes to resolve broken quest lines, as well as several others related to issues with co-op play – including one to stop your mates stealing your items.

One note – “Butcher enemies won’t spawn at all during escort missions (hooray!)” – even addresses a grumble which escaped many an NDA over the weekend.

Dead Island releases in the US on Tuesday and arrives in Europe later this week, for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Thanks, Evil Avatar.

Not aiming to fix their glaring issues within the game? The AI is horrid in this game and could easily be fixed if they so desired but they like predictable AI that you can easily avoid with or without stealth. Along with Audio clipping and some muffled Voices and the horrible loading. All that could easily benefit from a patch.

I do enjoy playing video games if there are glaring issues within said game then I change gears and start picking apart what is wrong with said game.

Also going to school for game development and also working part time as a game tester you start picking up issues a lot easier. SO Yes I do find some enjoyment with picking apart games and trying to find out why they did it this way and not another way.

You made a comment on why you think Deus Ex is a better game because it doesn’t have a day 1 patch but the developer for Dead Island listened to the issues and fixed them within time for the release date. Where Edios Montreal did not and what are you seeing with most of the user reviews? Horrible AI, Horrible Loading, audio clipping. THese are things that could have been fixed quite easily via a patch.
