Physical Warfare Pack DLC will be available for free after BF3 launches, says DICE
DICE has said the Physical Warfare Pack DLC being made available immediately to customers who pre-order Battlefield 3, will be available to all for free after the game launches.

Here’s what DICE general manager Karl Magnus Troedsson had to say regarding the matter over on the Battlefield Blog:
“I would like to start by clarifying that the Physical Warfare Pack is a time-based exclusive. If you do not pre-order Battlefield 3 at a retailer carrying the Physical Warfare Pack, don’t worry. We will unlock the contents of the Physical Warfare Pack for free to all Battlefield 3 players later this year.
“The Physical Warfare Pack will be available as a pre-order bonus all over the globe. Right now, the UK is the only country where it has been announced, but stay tuned to get constant updates on where you can pick this up in your country. And remember, if you do not pre-order, you will still get access to this content at a later date, free of charge. If you do pre-order, you will get access to it from day one.”
Back to Karkland is also a pre-order bonus which will be made available sometime after launch, but unlike the aforementioned incentive, it won’t be free.
Battlefield 3 is out in October.
Thanks, Yoshi.

it should have been stated from the outset that it was a timed exclusive. In fact more companies need to be more transparent with their DLC practices cos you seem to be on a knife’s edge constantly if you miss out on one way of getting a piece of DLC as to whether you can get it again.
I’m still waiting on the WAW zombie map pack for black ops =/

It’s less DICE coming to their senses, and more them getting their way with EA. I know a couple of the senior guys at DICE really well, and apparently when EA bought them they tried to impose all sorts of internal EA practices that were flatly refused (those crazy Swedes!). DICE have always maintained that they don’t want to charge for DLC, something which EA is obviously keen to monetise. The problem for EA is that DICE have become so important to them over the last few years (BF, NFS:HP, MoH, Frostbite engine), that they have to be a bit more flexible or risk the Swedes revolting!
