So it’s not a very well done game… Sad…

I thought they could make a good game.

@1 – Ermm… I take it you focused on the 5′s. Missed the seven above 8.5 and two above a 9 did you?

Yeah, it’s very mixed isn’t it? Curious to give it a go myself.

5 was probably too harsh, based on what i’ve played. But then, number scores are a funny thing.

I wouldn’t have scored it higher than 6.5 myself.

From what I’m hearing, the MP is absolutely fun but the SP, while a good story, is ruined by bad AI & is pretty linear.

To be honest, scores as mixed as this set off more alarms than a row of 6′s and 7′s.

4 of the top 5 highest scorers on here so far are from sites supporting the 360, is this a coincidence?

When scores are this all over the place, it’s usually safe to say that the lower scores are the more accurate of the bunch.

I’ll leave it to a rental to decide for myself, but for now I’m not hopeful.

In some cases yes, but in others it’s simply that some reviewers didn’t get it or it wasn’t their particular thing. It could be the higher scores are “enhanced” shall we say – or it could just be more of a marmite game.

Anyone know if there is a demo planned?

Note as a rental the MP is going to be limited by the online pass system – I think you can play to level 5 but that’s it.

From what i read the SP is bad and the MP is awesome. Great. No need to play it then.

I never got past the first few levels in MW2, BlackOps, BFBC or BFBC2. Only one of those I regret is BFBC. For the others the SP was poor to disappointing.

@15 no way, Black Ops single player was top. Completely insane but a great laugh nonetheless. MW2 sp did suck piss though…

What killed it for me was when I saw a short walkthrough of the sp in gamespot. Fuck man, that was THE most generic shit I’ve seen yet! Generic graphics, generic gameplay (and not even good)….really I don’t give 2 shits if the story is good. Stupid ass hype, “let’s make Koreans the bad guys THEN americans will buy this!” Really THQ? Go fund something better like Darksiders 2, really, fund the hell (pun intended) out of it so it can be released this year pleaseeee!!

I loved the way BlackOps was told, but the gameplay was similar to MW2. Pushed through a cinematic explosion fest of a corridor level with little feeling you are actually doing much beyond aiming at vague fuzzy-because-you-are-being-hit-sfx shapes and shooting them. Too many games seem to think turning everything up to 11 the whole time is the way to make things exciting, when actually a contrast and proper pacing is much more effective.

@20: Agreed. I really like the way the story of BO was told. But the whole explosions and fighting was really annoying. I wanted more sneaking levels. I think MW1 is still the best example for that.

The solo one man army type FPS seems to have disappeared. Everyone has added ineffective wingmen or designed the game with co-op in mind. It would be nice if someone did a decent single player focused campaign where levels encouraged you can plan attacks, use stealth if you want to, and plot your own way through a level.

@17 what I disliked about Black-Ops was that *spoiler* Treyarch killed EVERYONE I liked! I mean Frank West coulda been a new Captain Price ffs *spoiler end*

@8 No I don’t think Its a councidence that a game with exclusive 360 content & a 360 hardware bundle is getting the love box mags.

Xbox folks loving this while others are giving it a fair shot i think. So…looks like a $20 buy for sure.

If you build a game up by getting a (supposedly) acclaimed writer to do story, then the campaign failing as hard as it does according to most of those reviews is a pretty huge deal.

It looks to me like the reviewers who actually know what they’re doing aren’t going above 7.

@39 I’m psychic when it comes to Total War games (Which has nothing to do with the fact that it hasn’t changed in 10 years) so here goes:

It’s going to be released full of bugs and bog down anyone who spends time on it, with ultra-laborious micro-management, but ultimately the battles are pretty fun if you disregard the lobotomized AI – So I give it a 9, because it looks super shiny, and I’m an idiot who apparently doesn’t read my own reviews.

I never ever brought a game back to the store. Today I did.
This games is really awful. I think the 6/10 from Eurogamer is spot on.
I traded it for Bulletstorm and I didn’t regret it for a second.

Sounds like more xbox trash leaking onto multi platforms. Which was my hunch from the get go after seeing advertising for exclusive xbox maps.

I was intersted enough in this that i was willing to get the pc version (£25 made it easier to bite on) but now i’ll just rent n see what i think.
