Video – Project Dark might be Demon’s Souls 2 in disguise

project dark

Announcement trailer throws light on mysterious project.

When From Software revealed Project Dark at TGS this week, many assumed it would be either a direct follow-up or pseudo-sequel to Demon’s Souls.

Unfortunately, the company didn’t confirm whether or not the game was indeed Demon’s Souls 2, or if it has any relation to the rock-hard RPG. However, the game’s announcement trailer gives us some clues.

Watch it below.

As you can see, the game looks every bit like what a Demon’s Souls sequel should. Similar warriors in armour, same perspective, identical combat system and even a big bad dragon.

Project Dark also seems to take place in a similar setting to its predecessor.

We have a sneaky suspicion that Project Dark might be a “working title” right now.

Project Dark is also releasing for Xbox 360, according to the game’s official website, and its chances of a European release looks bright too.

The UK wing of Namco Bandai told Eurogamer to “wait and see” when asked about a potential publishing deal for Project Dark.

Thanks Kotaku.

It DEFINITELY looks like a Demon’s Souls sequel : same engine, dark fantasy, gameplay looks very similar as well.
It will probably be set in an alternate or slightly different universe though (as 360 players haven’t played the first), but as long as the game is as good as the first…

Day one purchase it is then : Demon’s Souls has been the best game of this generation for me.

It cant be Demons Souls 2. Sony own the IP.

Miyazaki said From Software wants to avoid calling the game Demon’s Souls 2 because it wants to mark a clear departure from the series.

Wait, what if Sony develops Demon’s Souls 2, since they own the IP? Sony Japan could do that, they created DS together with From Software.

Actually, this could be really interesting – we could get 2 games and see which parts of Demon’s Souls came from From Software and which ones from Sony.

    @Gekidami: I can’t believe it’s not… Demon’s Souls.

As long as it plays and feels like Demon’s Souls I don’t really care what they call it. :)

Its not, read my post, and this game cant have the same name, SCE own the IP, its inspired by DS that’s it.

Some rumors said, staffs of From Software behind DS are now working in SCEJ.

That looks fantastic…..it’s Demon’s soul 2 i don’t care what they call it.but i fear they’ll probably change the multiplayer for going multiplatform.im pretty sure alot of 360 gamers will feel alienated by DS1 multiplayer.

@11 Why the hell would Xbox gamers be any less receptive to the design of this game than PS3 players? That’s an utterly ridiculous claim to make.

There’s no difference between the people who play on Xbox Live and the people who play on PSN beyond the hardware they’re using.

Looking forward to this. Demon’s Souls 1 was a masterpiece of game design.

This definitely has the Demon’s Souls vibe going on in that trailer!
Multi-platform can surely mean good things in regards to multiplayer, being able to invite people directly to your game would have been amazing in demon’s souls without having to worry about being within 10 soul levels etc etc.
I would love for them to take a borderlands-ish style approach to the multiplayer.

Looks cool, I’d just prefer it was Demon’s Souls 2. Not as much as I’d like is explained, and there’s more they could add to leave unexplained.

Plus surely their death-life mechanic is kind of Demon’s Souls exclusive. They can’t recreate the Nexus, or that fantastic hub world.

Souls? You know? None of it is necessarily going to be back.

Whatever he says I’m sure it’s just code for ‘Sony helped us with the original DS so we can’t put the game on 360 without changing the name’.
