UK charts: Mafia II takes third week at number one

Mafia II has taken a third week at the top of the UK charts, Chart-Track has announced.
The action title beat off H.A.W.X. 2, which went up to second from tenth in last week’s charts.
Kane & Lynch 2, Toy Story 3 and Tetris Party Deluxe all round off the top five.
New entries in the top ten include Spider-Man: Shattered Dimentions at six, Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep at seven and Ubisoft’s R.U.S.E. at eight.
The full top ten for the week ending September 11 is below. Last week’s data is here.

That’s a pretty crappy first week for the new releases. With so little else out they really ought to have all been much closer to the top.

I’m sure the sales for it it Japan more than make up for its poor performance over here.
The PSP is pretty much dead over on this side of the world. Most stores I know of have only one shelf dedicated to the format, and some have stopped selling PSP games altogether.
Pity, as its my favourite format right now.

I’m surprised Mafia II is doing so well, all things considered. Then again, that’s not the strongest pack to lead.

How many copies did it sell? The rankings don’t mean a whole lot without those numbers… Might be like saying “Green is still the number one color in this bag of M&M’s,” meanwhile there’s only a couple dozen of them, with #2 being only a couple behind.
