Koei’s just confirmed both the 360 and PS3 versions of Quantum Theory for a spring release in Europe.

A 360 version was unveiled earlier today: the Gears-alike was previously considered to be a PS3 exclusive.

Did you know it had a “shape-shifting battlefield,” four online multiplayer modes and “two-character combination actions”?

Shame on you. Hit the link.

For Immediate Release:

QUANTUM THEORYTM GOES MULTIPLATFORM

Tecmo Koei’s Sci-Fi, Action Third-Person Shooter Arrives Spring 2010 on the PlayStation®3 and Xbox 360®

Letchworth, Herts.—December 04, 2009—Video game publisher TECMO KOEI EUROPE announced today that QUANTUM THEORY™ will be a multiplatform release on the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and the Xbox 360®video game and entertainment system from Microsoft. Both versions are scheduled to arrive in Europe in spring 2010.

QUANTUM THEORY is Tecmo Koei Europe’s newest original IP and the company’s first attempt at the third-person shooter genre. Players take on the role of the massive, gun-wielding warrior Syd and will battle through intense action sequences in an unpredictable, shape-shifting battlefield, aided by the mysterious acrobatic Filena. In addition to single player campaign, QUANTUM THEORY also supports four modes of online multiplayer, complete with voice chat for real-time communication.

STORY

Many years have passed since the world war inflicted catastrophic damage on the human race, leaving only a few survivors. In their new community “Cocoon,” life has been threatened by a black material called Erosion, creating a post-apocalyptic environment. Surviving humans recruit a militia to conquer the Erosion and set out to take down the evil, “Living Tower”. Arriving at the scene is the stalwart warrior Syd, whose only intentions are to destroy the Tower. He meets the beautiful and mysterious Filena as they both ascend to the top in their search for answers. The erosion of the Tower intensifies as the players climb up through the moving landform.

KEY FEATURES
• Shape-Shifting Battlefield: Navigate through a dark fantasy world where the intense battleground surprises you with new and challenging obstacles by changing its form in real-time
• Two-Character Combination Actions: Syd and Filena, an AI-controlled partner, perform actions as a pair—in some instances, that is the only way to overcome hurdles. Strategically perform combos for a more powerful, fierce attack against colossal enemies
• Online Play: Continue your adventure with others in four online modes
• Distinctive Art Nouveau Style Environment: Radiant colors and the mixture of organic elements complements both action and technology

QUANTUM THEORY is not yet rated by PEGI.

That right… put this garbage in with all the big hitters, then you’ll have an excuse when it flops.

This game seems terribly uninteresting. Still, I’d love to see all the PS3 fanboys who were singing its praises now state their honest opinions of the game.

A 360 port of Demons Souls would’ve been significantly more interesting.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen anybody singing this game’s praises.

I don’t see the interest in Demon Souls to be quite honest. So many people have jumped on the “Little engine that could” bandwagon but it’s not only difficult but tedius and unrelenting. It easily frustrates.

Still more interesting that this, though. No? :-)

    @ Withnail

When the first batch of media for the game was shown, there were a few here who defended the footage even though it was mediocre claiming that it was alpha footage and that they appreciated the fantasy asthetic more than Gears of War.

Sony own Demon’s Souls, they produce and dev the game with FromSoftware, anyway maybe Quantum Theory is fun ? :)

isn’t it obvious why KOEI turned it to multiplatform?
The game will less be called a Gears of War rip-off

Can someone point me in the direction of anyone who was praising this game?
I don’t think I’ve seen anyone going ‘Nyah 360 fanboyz! You wont be getting your Quantum Theory!!!!1111111!1!!!!1!’

My copy of Demon Souls should arrive in a week, I hope. As was stated, I reckon more people would have been interested had that gone multi-plat. Obviously it wont though.

I was looking forward to this game on the ps3. Now that it’s on the 360, I’m more interested in this game since I won’t have to worry about custom soundtrax, player ratings, a party system and poor textures. Moreover, since it’s on the 360, there will be more blood in it.
