New BioShock 2 trailer released

bioshock28

2k’s just released a brand new single player trailer of BioShock 2.

To say it looks great is a massive understatement.

As it says at the end of the trailer, previews embargo expires on Thursday. Expect a massive shitload of previews out by then.

Catch it after the jump, thanks to CVG.

It’s out on PS3, 360, PC worldwide on February 9.

It looks fantastic – but the story doesn’t interest me in the slightest. Loved the first one mind you. I feel Bioshock 2 SHOULD have been a prequel letting us experience the chaos that must have ensued prior to B1′s starting point. THAT would be interesting…

What a strange thing to put at the end of a trailer! :-|

Once again, I think they’ve really missed the point with this trailer. For me, Bioshock was all tension and atmosphere, whereas this trailer appears to have me believe that what I really wanted was lots and lots of running and super-fast shooting.

Don’t cock this up, guys. Seriously. :-(

It says at the end a global preview embargo lifts in three days.

Might be worth a mention.

@Blerk

It’s a brilliant thing to put at the end of a trailer. Sites like this write about previews going live, so why shouldn’t a publisher advertise the date when that will occur? It’s a great move… kudos 2K Games.

They should have focused more on the enviornment and feeling of Rapture than shoot em up type videos. I hope they don’t screw this up.

I *loved* the first game, but it does look like I’ll be passing on this one tbh.

Day one for me. No question.

I’m with Blerk on this one. The whole draw for me was the tense atmosphere, the feeling of being there and the mystery of the place and what went on there… not guns! guns! and more GUNS!

Me too, Pat. Not sure about PC or 360 though. PC will look awesomomomomomer, but then again, the multiplayer might be worthwhile.

I want to see if they’ve improved the control scheme before I commit to buy. Having to switch between weapons and plasmids was unnecessary in the 1st one, you can just take one hand off the gun, you shouldn’t have to actually put it away.

I got the PC version of Bioshock but it kept giving me shit was either no sound or constant crashing everytime I died and popped back in those Vita. SO I wnet ahead and bought the 360 version. May just get this one on Ps3.

Sorry but I’ll pass on running around the same areas as a different character with new weapons and plasmids. What a way to cash in. Ghetto’s prequel mention would have been the more logical way to go.

It’s not the same areas…

So what, we only saw 50% of Rapture in the first game then and now they’re going to put us in the other 50%? Bullshit.

So you’re guessing based on that argument?

Ok.

That wasn’t 50% of rapture it was only a few areas. You believe what you want. You are a bonofied troll just as bad as BDH tbh.

Only a few areas? It was fuckin’ HUGE! I find it hard to believe they can put us in a sequel in the same finite underwater city and we’re ONLY going to be in ALL NEW areas. AGain, the story is looking to suck on this one…but i’m sure it’ll sell well on the name alone.

But now we’re a big daddy. Oooohhhhh. Big fucking deal. What’s the point?

Phoenix – if you’re stating i’m a troll cause I state my opinion, then by that rational you enjoy taking large objects up the ass.

Your opinion are coming into a article and bashing whatever is on topic.

Opinions that are not even based on facts. Do you have proof that Bioshock was in fact 50% of the area? because even Kevin Levine (Original creator) said that what we saw in Bioshock 1 was not the entire city for all we know its as big as L.A.

Calm down dude, i never claimed i was stating “facts” only my opinion (big difference ;) . Just because i’m not excited about a sequel and state my opinion why, for you to see that as BASHING says more about you than it does me.

Mike said “it’s not the same areas”. Is that a fact? Do i reqeust proof from mike that backs that up? No, i just continue with the convo. Something that I will not be doing with you.

1) Bioshock PC was fine for me.

2) Rapture was huge, there’ll be new areas AND old areas, but the old areas will have changed due to further damage done by the water and the mother fucking insane inhabitants. Plus there are sections in the sea itself.

3) A prequel would have been cool, and at one point we were lead to believe it would be if only in part, but this is what we’ve got and none of us actually know precisely what will happen, so clam up on the ‘shit’ talk until there’s something a bit firmer on which to base it.

Well, the various trailers have shown us that the areas are different. So that’s pretty much fact up until now.

@24: I think the prequel is being dealt with in the multiplayer.

Nobody’s talking shit about the game (I complimented the first one) – just making COMMENTS. You don’t like mine? Tough shit stain.

you really think they’d have 5 studios on the job if it was mostly a rehash of BioShock?

Does Andrew Ryan play any role in the sequel do we know?

Apparently he’s apart of the story, but i think he’s to busy being dead to actually be in it…

this is looking DOPE son!
Bioshock was immense, I’m expecting more of the same here.

As for the trailer i thought it was awesome but admittedly it would have been cool to see some scenes showing tension and eeriness. Yet it’s action that sells and grabs peoples attention so it’s obvious why they went the route they did.

Can’t bloody wait :D

Still holding out hope… but that run and gun trailer didn’t help. Perhaps they know they have to market it towards to COD etc addicts to get the sales they’re looking for.

The actual controls and gunplay in the original Bioshock were never that tight in the first place. It was slightly too floaty and slide-prone to work as a full on action game. Thats why most of the Splicers just run straight at you and thats why for the most part the secondary functions of the guns are never enforced, its left completely up to the player to actually set up traps for the Daddies, or set up amazing kill corridors. Even then most of the time its simply easier and more direct to shoot everything, or just use the classic ONE TWO.
