Star Wars Battlefront 2 The Last Jedi Season Content

On December 13, The Last Jedi Season kicked off for Star Wars Battlefront 2, bringing with it the playable characters of Finn for The Resistance, and Captain Phasma for The First Order, in the online portion of the game. It also brought with it the new Galactic Assault map of Crait, and the new Starfighter Assault map of D'Qar.

As you can see in the trailer that announced the event just above, we'll be going to the brand new planet of Crait, taken directly from The Last Jedi. Crait functions as a Galactic Assault map, complete with both air vehicles and AT-ATS, somewhat like Hoth in the original Star Wars Battlefront.

When you next boot up your copy of Star Wars Battlefront 2, you'll be asked to choose a side between the First Order and the Resistance. Doing this will give you multiplayer challenges, which we'll explain in detail just below, but it'll also lock you to the characters of either Finn or Captain Phasma, depending on which side you choose.

To accompany all this new content arriving in The Last Jedi Season event, there's also a slew of new challenges coming to the multiplayer side of the game, which you can see a snapshot of just below. Completing these challenges for your chosen side, be it the Resistance or the First Order, will help that side in their progress to winning the overall season, granting all members of your side rewards like Credits and Crafting Parts.

The challenges so far include 'defeat 50 enemies with each trooper class', 'play as each trooper class for 10 minutes each', and 'defeat 10 enemies using grenades'. We don't yet know if there'll be an in-game counter that tracks the progress of The Resistance and The First Order, but we'll let you know more as soon as we uncover any additional information.

In addition to all of this, it appears as though you'll instantly unlock four new loot crates for Battlefront 2, as soon as you log into the game right now. There's a special, one time loot crate for each of the trooper class in the game, each of which gives you three Star Cards for the Assault, Heavy, Officer, and Specialist classes in the game.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 The Last Jedi Crait Map Guide

To delve into the specifics of the Crait map for Galactic Assault, this new map basically functions the same as any other Galactic Assault map in Battlefront 2, with an attacking and defending force. In the first phase, the Resistance have to take out two First Order AT-ATs, before they can reach the Resistance base.

The brand new Ski Speeders are available for the Resistance in this first phase, and while the ground troops work on firing the launchers at the AT-ATs to disable them, the Ski Speeders have to chip away at their health once the shields are down. Elsewhere, there are multiple tunnels and trenches running through the open battlefield in this section of Crait, and troopers on both sides should look to take advantage of these during the conflict.

The latter two stages of the Crait map both see the Resistance defending key check points in their Mine Base, as they try to evacuate before the First Order can crush them. The Ski Speeders aren't available in these two phases, but Captain Phasma and Finn are, and they both cost 6,000 Battle Points to use. We'd recommend saving the Heroes and Villains like Finn and Phasma to this stage, when they'll come into effect in close quarters combat. AT-ST walkers can also be devastating for the First Order in the second phase of the battle, as they're invaluable to capturing objectives in the Mine Base.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 The Last Jedi Finn, Captain Phasma, Tallie Lintra Guide

We previously mentioned that Finn is being introduced as a playable hero for the Resistance, and Captain Phasma is available for the First Order in The Last Jedi season of content for Star Wars Battlefront 2. The two characters cost 6,000 Battle Points each when you want to unlock them for play in-game, and come with some fairly nice abilities.

For Finn, the Deadeye ability is great for focusing on one powerful target, for example an enemy Villain character like Phasma, and dealing massive damage to them quickly. The Big Deal ability lets him support nearby allies with extra health and damage reduction, great for when you're either fighting for or protecting a point on the map, and the Undercover Team ability is ideal for flanking the enemy team and getting the jump on them.

As for the villainous Captain Phasma, her Staff Strike ability is ideal for either taking out multiple troopers in close quarters, or for diving into a fight with any enemy Hero with a lightsaber. The First Order Sentry Droid ability is great for a support weapon on the battlefield, and the Survivor ability extends Phasma's health, meaning she can become an unstoppable force for a short time, especially when you pair this with the Staff Strikes ability.

On top of both these characters, there's the brand new RZ-2 A-Wing, belonging to Rebel pilot Tallie Lintra, available in The Last Jedi Season event. Costing slightly less than the other two Hero characters in The Last Jedi Season, Talli Lintra's A-Wing will cost you 5,000 Credits to unlock for playing in Starfighter Assault.

As for Tallie's abilities in battle, she has the standard Afterburner ability on the left bumper, Dual Concussion Missiles on the right bumper, and the Blue Leader ability on both bumpers, giving her nearby allies an increased health regeneration. There are also a variety of new Star Wars to unlock for Tallie's A-Wing, including Inspiring Presence, which increases the amount of health regenerated by allies with the Blue Leader ability.

Tallie Lintra's A-Wing combines some of the best ship abilities in Star Wars Battlefront 2, to become quite a force to be reckoned with. The ship's standard cannons fire at an incredibly rapid rate, while the Afterburner ability allows Tallie to escape from almost any enemy pursuer.

This is everything you need right now to get to grips with the Last Jedi Season content for Star Wars Battlefront 2, including how to win with both Finn and Captain Phasma. We'll keep you updated with any new additions to the event as it runs on through December.
