Star Wars: Battlefront 2 creative director departs DICE

What's that? You sense a disturbance in the Force?

The creative director of Star Wars: Battlefront 2, Dennis Brannvall, has announced that he is leaving the game's developer DICE.

Brannvall broke the news on Twitter, saying that he was leaving the studio at the end of November after eight years, but giving no indication about what is next for him.

"I still remember when we first got the Star Wars contract and the entire studio meeting was filled with goosebumps and tears of joy," he wrote. "Eight years later the journey is over and I'm moving on from EA Dice at the end of this month.

"Thank you all. May the Force be with you, always."

Brannvall joined DICE back in 2012 as an associate level designer on 2013's Battlefield 4, going on to work on both Star Wars: Battlefront games. He's been Battlefront 2's creative director since December 2019, and played a large part in the game's transformation.

Star Wars: Battlefront 2 was released in 2017. It's one of four console titles based on the sci-fi IP that EA has released since it landed the license back in 2013, alongside the original Battlefront, Respawn's Jedi: Fallen Order and Motive Studios' Squadrons.

The publisher has had several other Star Wars games in the works at various points in time, including Visceral's Project Ragtag, a title from EA Vancouver called Project Orca and a Star Wars: Battlefront spin-off called Viking.
