Path of Exile, the celebrated isometric action-RPG from indie studio Grinding Gear, has been available only on PC for a good long while in various forms. The free-to-play title will be making the jump to consoles, though, with an Xbox One version scheduled for release this year.

Grinding Gear confirmed that the game will also be free-to-play on Xbox One, and will include all content currently available in the PC version, including the upcoming 3.0.0 expansion.

That said, each platform will play on a separate realm, so no cross-play between the two. "This is due to small gameplay differences between the two versions, such as the number of Flask slots and how some skills are targeted," the developer explained in a blog post.

With that in mind, the same schedule for seasons, as well as content updates, will be the same across PC and Xbox One.

"We're really excited about this release. It represents over a year of work from a small strike team within our studio - the guys who also created our DirectX 11 version," the announcement said.

No other details were confirmed, such as a solid release date, or whether other platforms will be getting the game in the future.
