Hitman fans can look forward to escalation contracts, a new elusive target and a big game update this month

Hitman has another big month of murder fun lined up.

Hitman developer Io Interactive has outlined what players can expect from the stealth sandbox this month.

Not satisfied with a very busy first year of Hitman, the stabby adventures continue through June with two escalation contracts, ten featured contracts, and a new elusive target.

The escalation contracts will be the first to arrive in Hitman this month. Here's the deal:

  • Sapienza:
The Spaggiari Subversion is the first Escalation Contract on the 'Landslide' Bonus Mission and challenges you with 5 different stages. Expect three different targets, some weapon and disguise restrictions and a few other surprises.
  • Bangkok:
The Asya Attunement is the fourth Escalation Contract to be added for Bangkok and the five stages include complications involving shotguns, laser tripwires, exterminators, enforcers and kill streaks. Have fun!

The new featured contracts will come later, with the elusive target dropping towards the end of the month. It'll be the 25th such event since Hitman released - and it's described as the penultimate one. That means that there are only two more chances to enjoy these time-limited challenges including this one, so don't miss out.

IO Interactive said it also planning a major Hitman update this month, for all platforms. No word yet on the details, but the developer is "very excited to talk about what it includes".

It's great, if a bit sad, to see IO Interactive continue to dole our new stuff to Hitman players in the wake of Square Enix's decision to cut ties. Rumour has it there will still be a Hitman Season 2, but even if that's true poor old IO Interactive has had to shed staff to survive. Square Enix has said it wants Hitman to carry on, and there's some talk of external investors, so fingers crossed everyone's back at their desks soon.

Hitman is available on PC, PS4 and Xbox One, and was one of the best games of 2016.
