Glitch in Xbox One UK TV ad was elaborate competition

In January, some folks noticed a "glitch" that appeared in an ad for the Xbox One that ran on TV in the UK. Microsoft has finally explained what the deal was with that: it was a contest, and the winner came away with many things.

The "glitch" was actually "a disruptive one-second film" that spawn a sort of viral treasure hunt that lasted about 36 hours from the altered ad's initial airing last month. The above video chronicles the whole deal.

The hunt led one "ultimate winner" to an Xbox One with Gold membership, the three exclusive disc-based launch games, Titanfall collector's edition, a whole lot of digital Xbox cash and a trip to the States for the Titanfall launch party in March. Some other folks won games and consoles and other things as well, but that was the big prize. Not insignificant.
