Destiny Xur update: should you buy Monte Carlo?

This auto rifle may look cool, but it doesn't have much else going for it.

Xur has Monte Carlo for sale this weekend in Destiny. This is the second time in less than a month he's had it, too.

Monte Carlo was once a PlayStation exclusive, and later made its way to Xbox. It's one of the sharpest looking auto rifles in the game, even today it remains easily identifiable.

Monte Carlo has a good rate-of-fire and decent stability, but it's outmatched by many other options. Auto rifles in general are not kings of the metagame today, and Monte Carlo's only boon is its named perk.

The Monte Carlo Method reduces melee cooldown as long as your're doing damage with the weapon. This has limited use, because no one is really running around in Destiny punching enemies all the time.

It has decent accuracy when fired from the hip, which is also useful in limited situations. It's not a consideration for PvP, either, as better auto rifles exist out there.

In conclusion, pick it up for your collection, but don't grind the Coins for it.
