Apex Legends cross-play beta kicks off October 6 alongside new LTM

The promised cross-play for Apex Legends is coming rather soon, and you can participate in a beta for the feature.

You will be able to participate in the Apex Legends cross-play beta October 6 through Origin for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

The feature will be enabled by default and will allow you to group up with players on other platforms. You will also be able to use voice-chat. Cross-progression will not be part of this update.

How it will work, is players on PS4 and Xbox One will be auto matches while those on the PC will remain together due to configurations. But if there is a group of both PC and console players, the group will squad up on the PC servers.

If you aren't interested in cross-play, it can be disabled in the settings menu; however, queue times can get "very very long," according to Respawn Entertainment.

Cross-play support for Steam will come at a later date.

With the update, Respawn will also bring the limited-time mode Flashpoint to the game, via the Collection Event, Aftermarket.

This mode features Flash Points dotted around towns in Kings Canyon, and these regenerate your health and shields over time. Healing items do not spawn in this mode so flashpoints will help you stay alive. These zones will produce "massive multi-squad fights" that bring the feeling of a team deathmatch to the game.

Additionally, the circle in this mode follows Always Be Closing rules. and will always close on a Flash Point. Also, instead of med kits, you will craft Phoenix Kits at Crafting Replicators.

The Aftermarket Collection Event brings another set of 24 themed, limited-time cosmetics to Apex Legends. All 24 items will be available through direct purchase and in Event Apex Packs for the entire duration of the event. Each Event Pack will come with one event item and two non-event items.
