Mordhau is already a bigger hit than developer Triternion could’ve anticipated.
Mordhau has now managed to sell nearly 500,000 copies on Steam in a week. The game even broke its own record, posting over 60,000 concurrent players at its peak.
All of this was surprising to the development team, who never expected the project to be this big. Since release, the team has been trying to keep up with demand by increasing server capacity and fixing XP and gold earn bugs.
In a new blog post, Triternion revealed some of its short, and longer-term plans. The developer is currently working on expanding the server pool, as well as adding servers to regions where they didn’t exist before. Matchmaking bugs that prevent parties from joining servers, and result in slower matchmaking times for battle royale are also being addressed.
“Right now we are addressing some of the more frequent and critical issues, like the ‘ghost bug’ among others, as well as some map exploits. These past few days had been very hectic for us, but things are starting to somewhat get back in order,” the developer wrote.
Triternion is also promising to compensate players for missing gold and XP, which are mostly the result of launch week woes. Mordhau’s next patch should be the one to do it.
Two new maps, as well as some more cosmetic content, are currently being developed in parallel. Down the road, you can expect mod tools to be be made available, and Triternion continues to look into adding new modes like ranked, and duels.
