CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077 Twitch stream reveal drew in the highest number of viewers for a newly released or upcoming game this year.
Earlier this week, CD Projekt streamed its Cyberpunk 2077 reveal on Twitch, which drew in more viewers than Fortnite’s peak of 350k concurrent viewers, and became the most-watched stream for a new or upcoming game so far this year.
GitHyp reports that the devs’ official Twitch stream saw a peak of 288k viewers, but that number shoots up to 459k concurrent viewers when accounting for restreams.
Meanwhile, the YouTube video on CD Projekt’s official channel has amassed over 4.7 million views.
The reveal generated so much of a buzz, not only because the game looks awesome, but because fans didn’t get to see the gameplay that was shown to the media at E3. The devs addressed this in a hidden message found in the final frame of the 48 minute-long gameplay demo.
The short version is that the game is still “deep in development” and the video is not indicative of what the final product will look like at launch.
