First-person melee combat is difficult to get right. Kingdom Come: Deliverance developer Warhorse is definitely giving it a red-hot go.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance is an open world RPG with a heck of a lot going for it. One of its most ambitious claims is to realistic sword fighting – from first-person perspective, no less – accounting for physics and historical accuracy.

The latest developer update video gives us an extended look at how combat plays out, and also plenty of insight into how Warhorse is tackling this very tricky proposition. At this stage it certainly seems to have more weight and thoughtfulness than roughly equivalent games like Skyrim.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance is coming to PC in northern summer 2016, but you can get in on the technical alpha now via its website.
