Armor can be tricky to master in Kingdom Come Deliverance, as once you've got your hands on a protective outfit, you'll have to maintain it throughout the game. In this Kingdom Come Deliverance armor guide, we'll be walking you through how to repair armor in Kingdom Come Deliverance, as well as how to generally wash and clean your gear.

Kingdom Come Deliverance Armor Types

In Kingdom Come Deliverance, there are five main types of armor in the game:

  • Plate Armor
  • Maille
  • Brigandine
  • Gambeson
  • Lamellar Armor

Although there are only five types of armor in Kingdom Come Deliverance, there are a lot more armor slots for Henry to contend with. Just below, we’ve listed all the available slots for armor that Henry can equip, as well as which particular items can go into said slots.

  • 4 head armor slots - For helmets, arming caps, coifs, and necklaces/capes/cloaks.
  • 6 hand armor slots - For shields, melee weapons, ranged weapons, bolts/shafts, and two ring slots.
  • 6 chest armor slots - For hoods, chest armor likes Plates or Brigandes, shirts, tabards, and gauntlets.
  • 4 leg armor slots - For padding, and footwear such as boots or shoes.

But how do you go about acquiring armor in Kingdom Come Deliverance? For a start, the easiest way to obtain gear in the game is to simply loot the corpses of your fallen enemies. Otherwise, you can find merchants in Talmberg and Samopesh that will sell you a few armor items like jackets and other relatively low level armor items.

Kingdom Come Deliverance Armor Stats

How should you go about deciding which armor to purchase and equip in Kingdom Come Deliverance? For a start, the best armor in the game is always the most expensive, so you’ll find the best armor in the game exclusively from merchants in towns and cities.

Aside from this, you’ll need to decide which armor items you want to equip, based on their stats. Every armor item in Kingdom Come Deliverance has stab, slash, and blunt defense statistics, as well as additional, non-combat statistics like Noise and Charisma, which obviously affect both Skill levels for Henry when equipped.

Therefore, armor in Kingdom Come Deliverance is a balancing act. The strongest player in the game will be ideally protected against slash, stab, and blunt attacks by their armor items, and while one armor item may be lacking in the stab attribute for example, you should use another item to cover this gap in your defence.

How to Repair Your Armor in Kingdom Come Deliverance

Your armor has a ‘health’ value in the menu systems of Kingdom Come Deliverance, which you can see underneath each item in the inventory menu. To pay someone to repair your armor for you, you need only to visit a Blacksmith, Armorsmith, or Swordsmith out in the open world of Kingdom Come, all of which can be found in most major towns or settlements. Keep in mind that it’ll cost you to get someone to repair your gear for you in this manner, so it’s best to use this service only when your armor and/or weapons are in a fairly dire state.

Otherwise, you can repair your weapons and armor all by yourself by levelling up your Maintenance Skill. At first you can only use Grindstones to repair your swords, but doing this will level up your Maintenance Skill, which will in turn allow you to purchase and find armor kits to repair your equipped clothing and weapons.

You can use an Armorer’s Kit to repair your armor, a Blacksmith’s Kit to repair your weapons, and an Tailor’s Kit to fix your clothing. These come in two forms: small, and regular size kits. The smaller kits will provide less of a repair boost to your items, while the regular kits will be more effective at getting your gear back into shape.

How to Clean Your Armor in Kingdom Come Deliverance

Although you’ll find Bathtubs scattered around the world of Kingdom Come Deliverance which you can use to clean yourself, this won’t actually clean your armor or equipped clothing items. To clean your clothing and armor, you’ll need a visit a Bathhouse, which can be found in most major towns in the game. Visiting a Bathhouse will cost you however, so make sure to only visit it if you haven’t for at least a few hours.

Although you might not think it, keeping your armor and clothing relatively clean can actually impact your reputation and social standing in Kingdom Come Deliverance. The state of your clothing affects your Charisma stat, which in turn affects your Speech Skill, which governs how likely you are to be able to char, people and persuade them while talking to them.
