Polygon reports transfers will become available on April 11, a few days ahead of the April 14 launch, which should take some of the strain off servers on release day - especially as transferring gets you in early.

All character data including inventory and quest progression will be carried over, and you can transfer all your accounts at no extra cost.

Unfortunately, some data won't be transferred, namely in-game macros, customised gear sets, item sorting and hotbar data. Square Enix said it's working on a solution to this issue, and hopes to make the data available through the PlayStation Network for import.

Transfers are non-reversible, and will deactivate the original PS3 copy of the game. If you want both systems active, you'll need to purchase and register both versions.

Transfers between the PC and console versions are not permitted.
