Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Plus features detailed, new trailer released

Team Ninja has said Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Plus on Vita will contain new modes and apparently, more blood.

Ninja Race is one of the new modes, in which players with race through "dynamic courses to beat the clock." After choosing a character, level, and costume, players can either rush through the course or kill as many enemies as possible all the while earning points and boosts. The mode's Combo Kill counter also increases as enemies are sliced and diced in sequence: the higher the counter, the more damage is dealt as long as the gauge is full.

"Three special essences, exclusive to the Ninja Race mode, boost the player’s chance of a successful mission: Green Essence adds time to the clock, White Essence boosts the Combo Kill counter for added damage, and Purple Essence grants Ninja Speed," reads the official description.

Tag Missions are another new mode included, which allows players to switch between team members in real-time as they try to complete challenges. One team member will be under AI control, and each fighter will have different strengths and weaknesses. Players can tag back and forth when facing different opponents and situations.

Weapons upgrades include Emma’s Fang, which is described as a "massive sword that can decimate foes with slow but powerful swings." The more bloodied it becomes, the stronger it gets.

There's more on the Vita version through the PS Blog.

Those who pre-order Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Plus will receive DLC with limited edition costumes for Ayane, Rachel, and Momiji.

A new trailer is below.

The game's out February 26 in US and on March 1 in UK.
