Nintendo thinks the Wii U began the eighth generation of video games hardware; random other people think it’s actually 7th-gen (also known as current-gen for the past seven years). Daylight, the procedurally generated psychological thriller from Zombie Studios, has a new video available showing the Unreal Engine 4 powered game running. It shows the main character in the game walking around an abandoned hospital with only her cell phone for illumination. Zombie says no two experiences will be alike in the game, and it is “best played alone in the dark.” Each time a new game is started, it will be a new world with new content and encounters. Epic Games has entered into a long-term deal with NCSoft, which grants the later a license to use Unreal Engine 4 for its upcoming projects. It is the the first Korean studio to license the engine. NCSoft has licensed previous version of the engine in the past: Lineage II used Unreal Engine 2 and Blade & Soul was developed with Unreal Engine 3. Additional details around regarding NCSoft’s use of Unreal Engine 4 in its projects are to be announced at a later date.
