Quick quotes: BioWare’s Muzyka discusses “emotional engagement” in games”
“You’re seeing how we’re doing that in The Old Republic. We’re merging story in in a really seamless way. It doesn’t feel tacked on or added, it’s actually there from the ground floor. It’s actually adding to the experience and increasing that emotional engagement, which, you go back to our vision, that’s what it’s all about. Building that emotional engagement.” – BioWare boss Ray Muzyka, speaking to Joystiq on keeping true to its values and roots in the company’s 16 year history.

Quick quotes – Muzyka on The Old Republic’s choice and consequence
“People seem to find it hard to go back to other MMOs once they play The Old Republic; because there’s a real sense of purpose to everything. We have real choice for the game. But because there’s personal choice, there is always personal consequences – there’s no going back you know? You can’t simply load up a previous save game and see ‘what if’. That’s really exciting from a moral perspective, because it’s personally impactful. We’ve found a way to integrate group combat, with group exploration, group stories and explorations – yet, there’s still a great sense of a personal story. People couldn’t imagine how you could pull that off in the MMO space – and we did that.”

Quick Quotes: Dragon Age 3 to be a marriage between Origins and DA2
“The team is going to have some things that are going to surprise both sets of fans, both core fans and new fans with a marriage of the best from both games. One of the core values of Bioware is that we take feedback really seriously, and we know that the core fans who were expecting more Dragon Age Origins – we have to respond to that – we’re not willing to ignore that, we’re going to take that head on. We also have an obligation to our new fans, the ones who were surprised and delighted with some new approaches and accessibility in terms of action and combat.
“What we need to do as developers is take that feedback from both sets of fans to heart and see about marrying that in future games in the Dragon Age franchise. And we look forward more to talking about that in the future.” – Bioware’s Ray Muzyka to PC Gamer.

Quick quotes: Sequels are good “if you do them right,” says Dr. Ray
“You have to innovate. Innovation means taking some risks creatively. When you’re doing a sequel, if you’re thoughtful and you understand your audience well and you spend a lot of time listening to what they like and don’t like, you take risks – sometimes they pay out, sometimes they don’t – but if you listen you can continue to refine and make the games better and better. You can adjust the right variables in a sequel. They’re good if you do them right.” – BioWare co-founder Ray Muzyka, speaking to Eurogamer about sequels at E3.
