Valve has tweeted that the beta for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive will “be active for all current key holders” starting November 30. A follow-up tweet stated it was important for the team to allow current Counter-Strike players into the beta, but there isn’t an “eta on when” just yet. The game is slated for release next year. “When bringing Counter-Strike to PS3 and Xbox, we wanted to make sure we weren’t ‘noobing’ it, or dumbing it down. The game has an entry point for new players in its Casual Mode, but it’s not ticking off the top players. We think that if you’re really good with the controller, and you can match the fidelity of movement of the mouse and keyboard, then you’ll hold your own. If not, well, you’ll just be matched with people who play like you. We’re looking at changes that are about adding depth for skilled players, without adding complexity for the lower levels.” – Valve writer Chet Faliszek to Gamasutra.

Valve has released some nice screenshots of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive to go along with yesterday’s video. A beta for the game starts in October, and those attending PAX and the upcoming Eurogamer Expo will be handed codes. Upon release in early 2012, the game will be made available for Mac, PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
