“I’d say that we’re putting the third game in a series that in many ways helped to define a console generation. Not completely, but if you look at the art style in Gears, and the cover system – I think a lot of games were positively influenced by it. To have that influence on the business is incredibly flattering, both for myself and everyone who works at Epic. [However] we need to remain humble and cautiously optimistic about every part that comes out and hope that it has an impact on the industry. If we ever come out and say: ‘this is gonna change your life, it’s gonna change you’re children’s children’s lives’ – gamers aren’t gonna buy it. “I don’t think we can hit CoD numbers, because that’s such a phenomenon, but I’m hoping we can get close to Halo numbers. The thing about those franchises is that they’re wonderful and they’re established – but they’re also two or three games ahead of us. We’re only on the third game of the series.
