Check out Rock Band 4's new freestyle guitar solos

A new Rock Band 4 trailer gives us a look at one of the most interesting new features ever to grace plastic guitars.

Rock Band 4 is designed to give players more creative freedom than ever before. Inspired by the freeform drum fills of previous Rock Band games, guitarists can now enjoy freeform solos.

As I have all the musical ability of a long dead sea slug I have no idea how this won't result in a horrible mess, and the glimpse we get in the Freestyle trailer below doesn't exactly calm my fears.

I am pretty excited about the vocal creativity though; Harmonix has made it so that you don't have to go note for note and beat for beat with the recorded version, as long as you're in tune. Hello, yes, I will be performing the He-Man version of 4 Non Blondes' What's Up.

Rock Band 4 launches on October 6 for PS4 and Xbox One, and is backwards compatible with all your old instruments (except the keytar) and DLC library. Sweet.
