Rock Band 4's PC crowdfunding venture fails to meet funding goal

The Fig crowdfunding campaign for Rock Band 4 on PC has ended without reaching the intended monetary goal.

Harmonix launched the funding drive on March 1, seeking $1.5 million to help develop the PC version in the works at Sumo Digital. The campaign ended yesterday with $792,817 pledged by 1,674 backers.

An email sent to backers by the company stated their "pledge and or investment will not be collected."

"While sometimes game campaigns do not make it over the finish line, that doesn’t mean the journey is over," the email read. "You can still show your support in the forums to see what’s next for Harmonix Music Systems, Inc."

When the campaign kicked off, Harmonix said it estimated Rock Band 4 would cost around $2 million for "development and testing," and once the $1.5M was raised, the remaining $500,000 needed would be covered by Harmonix.

The PC version would have launched with the same features and content updates included in the console game, and updates would be released in the future alongside the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Rock Band 4 was released on current-gen consoles October 6, 2015.
