Best Buy cancels multiple pre-order units of Limited Edition Majora's Mask New 3DS XL

Multiple sources reported overnight Best Buy has cancelled some pre-orders for the Limited Edition Majora's Mask New 3DS XL. As of press time, it appears to only affect those who pre-ordered more than one system.

Only one system was allotted per order, so the cancellation notices were sent out to comply with the restriction. Those who ordered more than one unit received an email stating their initial order had been reduced to one unit.

This includes customers who ordered more than one of the Majora's Mask New 3DS XL using the same credit card or shipping address, regardless of whether the multiple units were ordered for other members of the household.

With quantities limited for the system, as is the case with many special editions, many retailers opt for the "one per customer" limit giving all customers a fair chance, so this is nothing new on Best Buy's part.

To compensate for the order reduction, Best Buy offered a $50 credit code in the email, which customers could use on their next purchase; however, some customers have reported the $50 compensation credit was not included in their cancellation email.

An example of the email sent out is posted below, courtesy of Destructoid.

Best Buy and many other retailers such as GameStop, sold out of the model within one hour of being made available for pre-order. Best Buy started offering more units last week.

But if you are willing to pay, there's always eBay.
