Until Uncharted 4 is done, everything else at Naughty Dog is "put on ice"

Work on the inevitable sequel to The Last of Us and any other new game Naughty Dog may be prototyping have ceased until the studio ships Uncharted 4: A Thief's End.

In an interview with Game Informer (as transcribed by Gamespot), Uncharted 4 directors Bruce Straley and Neil Druckmann dismissed rumours suggesting early development work has already begun on a sequel to The Last of Us.

"That's all a big if," Straley said, referring to The Last of Us 2 rumours. "We're 110 percent in Uncharted 4 territory now. Blinders on, make this awesome."

Neil Druckmann is aware of some fans' desire to not see a sequel to The Lat of Us, and in fact agrees with them.

"We totally get it, because we have those same feelings as well. We have brainstormed sequel ideas for The Last of Us, and we've brainstormed ideas for new games, but all of that is put on ice right now while we work on Uncharted 4."

Both Druckmann and Straley weren't keen on the idea of a sequel to The Last of Us that's made without them, but did not outright confirm something was in the works.

Confirmation or not, we know that there's something else going on at Naughty Dog, and it's very possible it will end up being a sequel to The Last of Us, whatever that entails.
