Alien: Isolation will let you play as original 1979 movie cast – but only if you pre-order

Sigourney Weaver and the cast of the original Alien movie will be playable in exclusive levels of Alien: Isolation – for those who pre-order the game before release.

Weaver (Ellen Ripley), Tom Skerritt (Dallas), Veronica Cartwright (Lambert), Harry Dean Stanton (Brett), Yaphet Kotto (Parker) and Ian Holm (Ash) will feature in two downloadable bonus missions based on the original movie.

Pre-order the game to upgrade to the Nostromo Edition, where the Crew Expendable content lets players lure the alien into the ship’s airlock.

Pre-order from “select retailers” and you’ll also get the Last Survivor mission, where Ripley must escape the Nostromo and into the Narcissus shuttle.

The game is out on October 7.

Holy shit, if I ever saw a good pre-order incentive. Only question is if this will be available down the line.

I find this rather pointless.. You can play the actors.. but you can’t actually play the best one for the best bit?

where is John Hurt, and why can’t I play being burst open.. seriously though, where’s John Hurt.

Can I also say, this disturbing trend of having actual real actors in video games… it’s got to go away.. Games are expensive enough without adding their fee to the many many zero’s.

The well known actors shouldn’t be in the games in the first place.. unless of course they just want to take all the voice and acting jobs away from those less well known and making less money..

Games are not movies… I wish they would stop fucking treating them as such… and if I hear one more company spout such garbage as ‘cinematic experience” someone is getting a kick in the happy sack.

Nice incentive, are there any details regarding the extent of this, do they only feature the character models of the original cast for instance or maybe, hopefully even Voice Overs?
    Thanks in advance!

    @salarta

Yep, this is a case of original dev time being used to create further materials that are being withheld from the final game.

It stinks and is absolutely disgusting.

And just like that, Sega found a way to say a louder FUCK YOU to Alien fans than Aliens Colonial Marines. Seriously, this shit needs to stop. FUCK YOU SEGA.

Trend? -_-” Really, you think this is something new? Have you ever played Apocalypse for PSX?

    To topic: Fuck Pre-orders.

While yes, the whole keeping content behind a pay wall is annoying and a bad practice.(A bad practice that makes lots of money). Its only 5 bucks. Your life is not over if you put an extra 5 bucks on the game. If you cannot afford 5 extra bucks, you have more to worry about than playing video games.

When we are already charged for 60 bucks, then yes, 5 is too fucking much. I could accepted this as a late reveal DLC around 1-2 months after release but getting the original cast, making the part and THEN using it as pre-order incentive (An bad and hurtful element by itself) is beyond disgusting.

Hell, it’s taste is so sour that I might actually rethink buying the actual game on PS4. Yes, it doesn’t make sense but guess what? If SEGA wants to be an asshole, consumers can be too.

Funny thing: it’s not pre-order only in e.g. Germany, over here it’s simply included in the normal edition.

    Good for us.

What the hell are you guys talking about: EXTRA 5 bucks? The $5 preorder goes towards the $60. You are making it sound like you have to pay $65 if you preorder. If you were going to buy the game when it releases anyway there is no harm in a preorder.

That said I do hate preorder incentives like this that lock out missions for those that want to wait to buy it.

@dazedonthemoon The harm is that this is a part of the game segregated from its basic form on release, that will very, very likely end up getting turned into something you have to pay extra to download if you didn’t preorder the game. In other words, it’s a piece of DLC that could have been included in the base game on launch, but wasn’t, and consumers that didn’t preorder will get charged more for something that should’ve been in the base game.

If they release the DLC for free after a certain amount of time has passed, then what I said above doesn’t apply. But I really doubt that’ll be the case. And only allowing people that preordered to ever have access would be even worse, because it’s actively denying access to anyone that didn’t know or care about the game in advance.

And i bet you don’t even get to see Ripley in her underwear!

Nice bit of homage used as pre-order incentive, yuck. I’ll get it 2nd hand via trade-in & throw them a bone when its dlc.
