BioShock is not dead, future titles will be developed by 2K Marin

Irrational Games may be no more, but that isn’t stopping publisher 2K from assigning development of future BioShock games to internal studio, 2K Marin.

Speaking during the Cowen and Company analyst conference, the same conference where he said that Red Dead Redemption is a “permanent franchise”, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick outlined how the future of the BioShock brand looks.

“We think [BioShock is] important and certainly something that we’re focused on; something 2K Marin will be responsible for shepherding going forward.

“I think there’s a lot of upside in that franchise. It hasn’t necessarily been realized yet. And the question for the future, assuming we decide to answer the question, would be ‘How do you stay true to that creatively?’”

So there you have it folks, you certainly are going to see more BioShock games going forward.

Thanks, DualShockers.

Meh, Bioshock 2 was pretty solid except for the god awful tacked on multiplayer. Bioshock 2 just felt like an expansion more than an addition to series especially compared to the original and Infinite. Kevin Levine is that necessary ingredient to make it what it is, story wise. I don’t have much faith that Marin could pull off that magic.

So long as they get rid of that *awful* area of defence/zone of avoidance crap every time you want to harvest any Adam, then I’m all for it.

Bioshock 1 was passable.. although all the PSUEDO-philosophy (, people actually read that crap and take it seriously, a big thing in the States AND NOWHERE ELSE WOULDN’T YOU KNOW IT.) damped down some fun gameplay.

Bio 2 was almost an exact retread of the first just set somewhere else and the 3rd was a failed attempt at storytelling and twists.

Do we REALLY need a 4th, where would it go and why would it bother?

@Tormenter Man, imagine that. A game made in America tackling a subject that actually might mean something to Americans. What a wild concept, with America being such a small country and all. Why, it might as well be Wales, right?
