Batman: Arkham Origins won’t use Games for Windows Live

Monday, 19th August 2013 05:47 GMT By Brenna Hillier

If you’ve been hesitating over your Batman: Arkham Origins platform choice, here’s one little worry dispelled: IGN reports the Warner Bros. Montreal’s effort will use Steamworks, not Games for Windows Live as the last two entries did. Good news for those hoping to take advantage of their Steam friends lists in the multiplayer side of things, and yet another sign that the dreaded Microsoft platform may be on the way out. Batman: Arkham Origins release at the end of October, and is also coming to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Thanks, Dragon246.

I never understood MS’ handling of GFWL.

The service was super unpopular among gamers and yet MS never tried to fix, improve or even change a damn thing about it. It’s funny how people believe that same MS was going to turn original Xbox One into a Steam-like console.

@1 MS won’t fix it as long as it doesn’t affect their profits by much.

I’m not a fan of Steam either. I recently got Mortal Kombat for PC and Steam made me download a 2GB update before it >allowed< me to play. It partly defeated my main purpose of buying a disc, that is, to bypass any downloads on my slow net.

At least with GFWL, you could create an offline local profile and play it without updating the game.

@2 steam is fine tbh….. you really need to change isp or look for a better deal because shit 2 gig is nothing in todays standards…

EDIT: i just saw Total war 2 needs 35 gig haha.

Not surprising considering M$ announced that GFWL will be effectively “shutdown” on the 22nd or 23rd of this month.
(You will still be able to play your games and download of em if you bought any via it, but future stuff won’t use it)
