Monday, 13th May 2013 21:55 GMT By Debabrata Nath

Irrational’s Bioshock: Infinite has shipped more than 3.7 million units to date, publisher Take-Two Interactive revealed in its year-end financials released today.

The publisher said that the game’s experienced “significantly” higher first-month sell-in than any other previously released BioShock game. It also stated that it has seen a solid demand for the Bioshock: Infinite Season Pass, but did not disclose the number of units sold. The pass gives you access to all three upcoming DLC packs of the game at a one time cost of $19.99 on PSN and PC, and 1,600 MSP on Xbox Live.

Always happy to see a good game do well. Hope it goes on to sell more. :)

One of the only games where I’m genuinely looking forward to some DLC.

I just hope they’re not like Squenix and consider that good news at this stage.

Their advertising that they needed to do to sell that many units wasn’t insanely extensive. And they didn’t have to start selling copies at vastly reduced prices to reach that number either.

@8 no, they “sold in” – ie, sold to retailers, or “shipped”. Retailers have ordered that much stock to date.

Thats the only numbers publishers care for. Its not like they get anything extra after the retailer sells it.

@11: They might get more sales to retailers from the retailers needing to restock.

That would still be just adding to the “shipped” number. Publishers only care about the number of retailers buying the stock from them along with DLC and Digital. WHich is my point.

Not even 6 million yet? That’s a failure by Square standards. Time to fire some people and reorganize the company.

i’ll bet they’re actually disappointed by that number, considering bioshock did about 8 million iirc and that infinite was as long in development as it was.

@16 8 million over how long though?

“The publisher said that the game’s experienced “significantly” higher first-month sell-in than any other previously released BioShock game.”

So clearly it’s doing even better than the originals.
