Battlefield 3 suffers server outages after attack

EA and DICE's Battlefield 3 and Battlelog server network has experienced some downtime today in the wake of what appears to have been a deliberate attack.

Servers for both the game and the attached Battlelog service crashed earlier today, but are now back online according to the Battlefield 3 status site.

The official Battlefield twitter account notes that the server outages are "a result of activity that appears to be aimed at overwhelming our game servers," suggesting the crashes were part of a deliberate attempt to do so.
