Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon teaser apparently confirms Tron-like adventure

Tuesday, 2nd April 2013 02:22 GMT By Brenna Hillier

Look, guys, I know what day it is, I really do, but Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon is an actual thing, I promise you. Whether any of the stuff Ubisoft said about it today is true or not is another matter.

We know Blood Dragon is real because its Xbox Live Arcade listing and achievements leaked, and, for goodness’ sake, Kotaku reports Ubisoft paid good money to have the damn thing classified.

For April Fool’s Day, the publisher released the teaser trailer below with the following description:

The year is 2007. It is the future. Earth has been ravaged by a nuclear war and new paths for peace must be found. A U.S. cyborg army may have found a solution: a powerful bioweapon on a distant island. A Mark IV Cyber Commando, Sergeant Rex Power Colt has been sent over to gather information and figure out what the hell is going on.

Obviously there’s not a lot of information in the trailer itself, but see that colourful blip at the end? An anonymous tipster alerted us to this GIF showing it in slow motion.

See? Now we’re getting somewhere. Wherever we’re going, it’s definitely not in the direction the game’s batshit insane website suggests.

They have gone mental with this. I love it.

Notice how the music might as well be from Terminator? :D

    Website indicates it’s a film…

    Better be a DLC, that’s a joking based on a film. I don’t want a film.

I will actually buy Far Cry 3 for this. Serious.

…this is relevant to my interests, if real.

I like how so many things are toying with retro and virtual realities of late.

I actually kind of miss that.

And now I want Shadowrun Returns/Online to be out so that I can be a minotaur decker. If that’s not an option, I’m going to be sorely disappointed with both of them.

(Shadowrun is also not fantasy. :I Yep. I really do think I hate fantasy. Q.E.D.)
