Assassin's Creed 3 Hidden Secrets bug being worked on, Ubisoft reveals way to avoid it

Ubisoft has said it's working to fix a rare Assassin's Creed 3 bug which wipes saved game data. The bug occurred with the release of the game's latest DLC, Hidden Secrets.

The issue has affected some PS3 and Xbox 360 players, and so the issue doesn't occur to others, Ubisoft said it's best not to load saved games while the DLC is being downloaded.

"We're able to reproduce this issue at the studio and are working on a fix/workaround," community developer Gabe Graziani said. "From what we can tell, this problem seems to be rare and should generally only affect a very small number of players. That said, we're taking the speedy and complete resolution of this very seriously.

"AVOIDING THIS BUG: Do not load your saved AC3 game while the DLC is downloading in the background. This appears to be the key trigger for this bug. You can do anything else you want to do, just don't load up your saved game and play it while the DLC is downloading."

The Hidden Secrets DLC was released earlier this week on all formats for Season Pass holders.

The pack will be available broadly on December 11 on PC and Xbox Live, and on December 13 for PSN. It will be made available at a later date for Wii U.
