Ico and Shadow of the Colossus producer Kenji Kaido leaves Sony

Kenji Kaido, who had produced the critically acclaimed PlayStation 2 games Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, has left Sony.

He disclosed this news via a tweet.

“I have some news,” he wrote on Monday. “This August, I left Sony Computer Entertainment. My plans for the future are undecided as of now, but for the time being I’m going to continue my summer vacation.”

In response to another tweet by Masahiro Sakurai, creator of Super Smash Bros, who expressed shock at his announcement, Kaido tweeted:

“Thank you very much. I’m also excited about whatever I’m going to be doing next.”

Kaido worked at Taito before joining Sony, where he designed arcade games like Cameltry and Sonic Blast Man.

Although Kaido wasn't said to be involved in the development of Team Ico's next title The Last Guardian, this marks another major exit after that of Fumito Ueda, who announced he'd left Sony late last year.
