Hitman: Absolution’s multiplayer isn’t cross-platform, but with a little ingenuity you can manually bring content from one system to another.
Designer Torben Ellert told Joystiq that for various reasons the developer was not able to implement cross-platform multiplayer between the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of Hitman: Absolution.
That said, Ellert expects the fan community to quickly figure out how to import a contract designed by another player from one system to another. Contract ID numbers begin with a code designating platform, while the rest explain the specific conditions of that piece of content, so once players figure out the rules, they’ll be able to replicate any contract.
“The trick is you have to do it yourself. You have to be able to pull it off yourself,” Ellert said.
The multiplayer mode in question allows players to construct assassination missions and invite other players to tackle them. Director Chris Elversham walked us through Hitman: Absolution’s Contracts mode at gamescom.
Hitman: Absolution arrives on HD platforms in November.
