I guess all those YouTube videos of “Star Wars Dance” game did something in the end.

We can all see how mature the Xbox community is now. It’s a surprise really. I thought they were all 10-16. I was wrong.

It is really, really sad… I mean, if rushed poor games top the charts only “thanks” to a nauseous marketing campaign*, then this is what future gaming will look like and developers won’t even bother to release good games.

“Invest millions in Battlefront 3 development? Why bother? Let’s just do a clumsy unresponsive rushed motion control-based game and it will sell like hot dogs”

    * General advertising is normal, but paid reviews? Almost all reviews I’ve read or watched underlined the fact that response is really bad and the different modes really lack depth. In fact no review I’ve seen had anything really good to say about it except “it’s barely ok” at best, yet the scores were quite high in the end. Look at Gametrailer’s review for instance: the game scored a 6 when the review itself sounded more like a 3.

Many of you will probably think I’m narrow minded but I get a tad frustrated with the tagged fear put onto a game pad from so called “casual gamers”. They use the internet, they can download from the internet, they can use youtube, mobile phones, tv remotes and so forth yet the very sight of a game controller to play games is claimed to be intimidating. Is a gamepad really that daunting?

True I dislike Kinect, having owned one given to me as a gift, owned a Wii and tried the PS Move I cannot think of one memorable experience with motion control, tried it with friends and family etc…nope I cant say I enjoyed the experiences.

So when I see a game like this doing what its doing at market then yes it saddens slightly, mainly due to this concern more publishers and developers will enter this type of market and we will see less of the Journeys, Mass Effects and so forth. Is that selfish? Probably but we all want more of what we like and less of what we dont.

@7, If I paid for reviews and only got to 55 on Metacritic I would be asking for my money back.

@8, The reason motion controller gaming never sticks in my mind is because I can think of plenty other times where I’m just jumping around looking like a fool with friends that didn’t involve a computer of any sort.

Motion control at its best is a limited attempt at bringing the outdoors in, and it doesn’t even do that very well. Real bowling beats motion control virtual bowling any day.

I fucking hate Star Wars now, so seeing something this self-mocking and stupid was a breath of fresh air.

Im glad its selling great guns, makes a change from seeing Football game #9808098098 at the top of the charts, which is even more fucking depressing.

@9 : the game is bad (and I mean really bad) and still some early reviews gave it score like 4/5 (WTF ???). That is what I was referring to when I was talking about “paid” reviews

@11, #12 has it spot on. Not all reviews are going to agree with your opinion. Just because you think it’s shit and some other reviews do too, doesn’t mean everything has to think the same.

Meta still stands at 55, that’s crap. That’s also what I think most people would have looked at, I certainly did. I was about to go into my local store and get it, then I thought “nah, I better check Meta…” Seeing it wasn’t even in the 70s put me right off. I guess some people just really love SW.

Maybe people thought this was the first good Kinect game??

Good to see that 2nd/3rd gen Kinect software is actually no better than the first.

@14, You’re probably not wrong there. This was the first title I actually *wanted* to get for Kinect but I can’t ignore the poor review scores. Maybe some day I will try it but I think that day is far from now.

Well to tell you the truth i do like the kinect, i did had a great time with games like kinect sport, dance central 1 & 2, the gunstringer, etc , and i think with this one it will be the same, i know kinect is not for everybody hence the mixed reviews, good ones and bad ones, but it is because kinect is for the extreme opinions, theres no in between, you either like it or not.

Having said that i think the games on kinect are getting good, the gunstringer was a good example, i think this one too and the upcoming tittles are looking promising like the project draco game, therefore iam pretty happy with kinnect and i think the games will get better, now i hope that fable the journey turns out good too.
