EA announces three new Battlefield 3 expansions

EA's announced three new multiplayer expansions for Battlefield 3 that will release between June and winter.

The first of these packs is known as Close Quarters, where focusses heavily on - you guessed it - close quarters combat. New weapons, dog tags and assignments will be introduced with the expansion. It's out in June.

The next pack will be called Armored Kill, and will release in autumn. Armored Kill is more vehicle-centric, introducing new tanks, ATVs, mobile artillery and more. It'll also bring with it "the biggest map in Battlefield history".

The final expansion is called End Game, due to release this winter. Details, however, are scarce.

The new expansions are the second, third and fourth packs respectively to be released for the DICE shooter since it launched in October last year: Back to Kirkand, which revisited maps from Battlefield 2, released in December 2011.

"Instead of delivering piecemeal map packs, we're giving players a completely new experience with every themed expansion pack to keep the action fresh," said Battlefield 3 producer Patrick Bach.

"Our expansions are designed to excite our large and active fan base while attracting new recruits with gameplay that is dynamic and unpredictable every time."

The new content will release first on PS3, as announced before the game's release, before hitting 360 and PC.
