Medal of Honor: Warfighter releasing in October

The latest issue of OXM has confirmed that the next Medal of Honor game is Warfighter, that it will ship this October and will have Danger Close-developer multiplayer.

The game is being developed by Danger Close, as was the 2010 reboot, and will use DICE’s Frostbite 2.0 engine.

DICE, however, will not develop multiplayer as it did in the first game: it’s being done in-house.

Warfighter will yet again follow the stories of Tier 1 operatives, although it’s unclear at the moment whether or not the setting will be Afghanistan.

According to Game Informer, OXM has screens, more details and interviews. Warfighter will be shown at a GDC event on Tuesday, March 6 from 8.00pm PST (4.00am GMT).

Warfighter follows the great success of Medal of Honor’s revamp. Despite only achieving Metacritic averages of 72% on PC, 74% on 360 and 75% on PS3, the title sold more than 5 million units.

Danger Close confirmed it was working on a second title in February last year.

The Medal of Honor website has acknowledged the reveal by releasing one piece of key art, viewable below, and promising more details to come.

Looking forward to seeing what they’ll do this time around. Medal of Honor had a lot of interesting stuff in it, but it didn’t feel it had gotten enough time in the oven.

@1 Dude, you forgot TIER ONE OPERATOR.

@6: Yeah, i remember when i was really getting into it and suddenly it ended. They failed to make the story interesting and the cast memorable.

You just knew that there was more going on and that they needed more time.

Still, i liked it a lot, liked how it was quieter and smarter than most military games on the market.

The mere fact DICE aren’t involved with multiplayer this time round – as much as I think they redeemed themselves with Battlefield 3 – actually makes me more excited. Multiplayer was a mess in the first MOH, I thought.

Loved single-player, though.

Black Ops 2 and Warfighter…two games i really couldn’t give a shit less about about. Getting so damn tired of those war shooters in general.

No DICE multiplayer? Well let’s hope Danger Close can bring something fresh to a saturated market.

@16 Maybe now we would finally be able to slide and go prone in MP like you could do it in campaign.
