Plants vs Zombie iOS update adds I, Zombie mode and more

PopCap has quietly updated the iOS version of Plants vs Zombie to version 1.9, adding in two new ways to play.

I, Zombie and I, Zombie Endless give the player the chance to take the battle to the plants (in cruelty-free cardboard form) in control of a zombie army.

There are nine new levels to experience in the new mode, and of course, as many as you can manage in its endless equivalent.

The I, Zombie puzzles also appear in the PC and Mac versions of the game, but the iOS version gets a few new unique tweaks, too – four new achievements and three new GameCentre leaderboards.

If you fire the game up, you’ll also notice the characters have decked the hall, and themselves, in festive cheer.

Plants vs Zombies is available across a number of platforms and is coming to Vita as a launch title.

Thanks, CVG.

See, stuff like this is why smartphones are completely crushing the competition.

I bought Plants vs. Zombies on my iPod Touch almost a year ago. Fun game, lots to do. But that’s not the thing. The thing is, its *still* being supported with new content and now features all the time, even after all this time. The updates are free, and the original purchase itself cost next to nothing.

When was the last time you saw a handheld game do that? And PvZ isn’t exactly lacking in gameplay either, so the “casual” argument can’t really be used here, honesty.
