Rumour – Battlefield 3 to release on Steam
Two bits of evidence suggest Valve and EA may have resolved the dispute which has kept the latter’s games off Steam.

A Steam forum user reportedly turned up a number of files within the PC installation of Punkbuster for Battlefield 3 which suggest a Steam release is, if not imminent, than certainly technically catered for.
Slightly less convincing are the terms of a competition hosted by Sapphire Technology, which promises “one PC Game code for Battlefield 3, redeemable for the game on Steam” to the winner.
Battlefield 3 is among a number of EA games which have failed to release on Steam after the publisher took exception to Steam’s terms of service, which limit content provider’s direct access to users.
Both EA and Valve representatives have made comments suggesting a solution is being sought, and rumours earlier this month suggested the two were close to reaching an agreement.
Thanks, Kotaku.

The fact is that Valve wouldn’t let them bundle this Origin shit with their game, so they removed it.
Now EA, after posting £212m in losses, have decided to put it on the biggest PC games platform after all.
Hopefully without Origin and having to visit a stupid website to join a match.

That’s a really, really thin rumor.
Might as well be Punkbuster covering their bases, which makes every sense in the world, given that their terrible service breaks the game if something goes even slightly wrong.
Still, Battlefield 3 on Steam can’t come soon enough.

It will most likely definitely come to Steam sooner or later. This is more of a timed exclusive thing in order for EA to get as many direct sales as possible. Really, what on earth is wrong with that?
