Rumour - Battlefield 3 to release on Steam

Two bits of evidence suggest Valve and EA may have resolved the dispute which has kept the latter's games off Steam.

A Steam forum user reportedly turned up a number of files within the PC installation of Punkbuster for Battlefield 3 which suggest a Steam release is, if not imminent, than certainly technically catered for.

Slightly less convincing are the terms of a competition hosted by Sapphire Technology, which promises "one PC Game code for Battlefield 3, redeemable for the game on Steam" to the winner.

Battlefield 3 is among a number of EA games which have failed to release on Steam after the publisher took exception to Steam's terms of service, which limit content provider's direct access to users.

Both EA and Valve representatives have made comments suggesting a solution is being sought, and rumours earlier this month suggested the two were close to reaching an agreement.
