I’m already playing it
(singleplayer only for now, just got the game from my local shop.)
and everyone is bashing singleplayer campaign in reviews because it’s not “Call Of Duty”. What i play right now from the singleplayer point of view in my opinion is a great experience, although story is very well written, but it’s not that great at all because there is nothing new or something surprising. But there is more logic, more sense than in any CoD game this generation and yes, it’s not bombastic, there are no BAYSPLOSIONS and Makarov with “Unichtozith vraznuju nadezdu na pobezdenije”.
I just don’t get it. Solid campaign for reviewers right now is where everything blows the fuck out i guess.
If Operation Flashpoint: Resistance came out this gen, how reviewers would react?
Reviewer: Well, it’s too fucking serious.
Well, du~uh.
Didn’t touched the multiplayer and Co-op yet. I think Origin blocks it for a while, dunno why. I think because i recieved game a bit earlier XD.
Also, i don’t like Facebookish web browser, although it’s easy to navigate and do stuff, but it’s not cool in my opinion.

Cant wait for my new processor next week! Thank god that my old Athlon dual core suddenly died yesterday, maybe it knows that it wont be enough to play BF 3 because of its age so it gives me more reason to upgrade!

I think the Xbox 360/PS3 reviews are being delayed as journos only receive their copies today or tomorrow (DICE delayed the console promos so they could install the Day 1 patch, I think) – I assume most websites will run a second review for consoles before Friday, I don’t think there’s an embargo on it, they’ll just put up the reviews when they’re done.

Yes, because shorter reviews mean worse reviews.
–
Reading through a few reviews (Joystiq, 1UP, watched Gametrailers), they keep listing faults (SP is generic, story is rubbish, Battlelog is irritating) and yet are giving it mid 9s? Odd.

@24 Modern Warfare 2 Review – Enough said. SP is generic, story is rubbish ohh hello MW2 but you got a 9.8 or w/e didn’t you
Reviewers are being more harsh with BF3 than they were with MW2… oh wait they weren’t harsh with MW2 at all even though it had similar problems.

Crysis 2 has a 99 PC review, which already beats all of the reviews listed above.

Those reviews are certainly interesting. Especially the IGN one that someone else pointed out, above.
They do seem to be spending a lot of time mentioning the game’s negatives, while still giving the high scores.
Loads of bugs, 5 hour ‘been there, done that’ campaign, useless QTE’s, random destruction, etc.
The scores aren’t consistent with the text.

it got a 90 score because of the multiplayer. because 5-6 hours of sloppy campaign is irrelevant when you have such an amazing multiplayer in which you can invest hundreds of hours.

Playing Singleplayer campaign. I’m in the middle of something already in middle eastern.
In my opinion it’s a solid campaign without sci-fi cheap bullshit.
I’m going to be very interested about IGN review with the next game, especially at the campaign section. It’s going to be very interesting.

G1GA, man, you coulda just described countless games this gen. I have so many reservations about this one it isn’t funny. I have to get the game, otherwise my brother in law is going to buy it for me anyways, I’d rather spend my cash on it then have them spend theirs. Its just that, like I said, I have reservations. Never had that before when buying a BF game. My trick knee keeps twitching.

Frosty, if you get the xb360 one lemme know. Please. I could use a couple of friends to team up with. I know Mike will play with me, but he is likly way outa my league. Maybe the game will have some co-op online(like onslought in BFBC2) we could do that.

yes bfbc2 is an awesome game. it has some flaws but it was boooom when it came put. unforgetable snow levels. i doubt anyone cares about my 50 cents but i´m still not buying the bf3 hype. i was on the hype train with a first class preorder ticket but then the beta was just too mediocore even as abeta and all…it wasn´t just the bugs but the (level) design and gameplay. i just do not dig the overall design of bf3 yet. the maps i´ve seen do not impress me much. i will definitely buy it and probably enjoy the hell out of it – but not now. it was my most wanted game but the more i see of it the more i think it can wait a little more.

@40 BFBC2 was and is awesome, and deserved better scores than it got.
VG247 should really collate these scores into a meta score, given that metacritic are so slow at updating their own.

Personally, I’m pretty pumped for this. I’ll be getting mine at midnight tonight (hopefully). I’ll weigh in with some MP impressions tomorrow. I just hope the game ships relatively bug free. I probably won’t touch the sp for a good while .

yea please start some mp impressions thingy in the forum. would love to hear what you guys think of it. will probably get it anyway despite my concerns in december or so after i moved in my new flat and the internet is a go and all. i have no doubt that this will be an awesome game…don´t know why it´s not clickin yet. i am just interested in the mp part of the game. nice that they got the sp and coop – but in the end it´s a bf game…

Perhaps BC2 wasn’t to everyone’s liking, but I thought it was amazing. I have never played a game that I wanted to play as much as I played that game either before or since.
The mixture of destructible environments, vehicular combat and sheer choice in the way you play, nothing has ever come close, and it doesn’t look like there will be anything anywhere near close without “Battlefield” in the title any time in the near future.

It is a reviewer’s job to listen the positives and the negatives of a game. If they didn’t, it would be a biased review.
The point is, just how badly do these problems impact on the game? If they don’t hinder the experience significantly, it’s completely understandable why it could still earn itself an eight or a nine.
