MW3 launch trailer immerses you in global conflict

Saturday, 22nd October 2011 17:07 GMT By Stephany Nunneley

Activision has released the launch trailer for Modern Warfare 3.

Apparently, all the symbols folks have looked to for strength across Europe and the rest of the globe are all “smoldering in ruin,” and this is “what greed has brought you.”

This is uttered by the game’s main protagonist Vladimir Makarov, and hunting him, is going to be like “hunting a shadow.” But this is exactly what you’ll be doing when Modern Warfare 3 is released on November 8.

Enjoy the launch trailer below, which is full of destruction, shooting, and plenty of locales.

I definitely see myself getting both games. But it’s pretty clear MW3 is going to be my second choice.

    Good shit.

I recently read about British apache pilots in Afghanistan being critisized for not flying as low or as daringly as the Americans, but it looks like they’re doing pretty well there.

@7: Is that a snarky remark about pirating?

If so, then you probably mean console gamers. The PS3/360 Version of Battlefield 3 is already online.

It’s the standard. Console gamers usually get their games 2 or 3 weeks before the official release.

Its nice Eye candy, but how much of that is prescripted events chosen from the perfect angle? Most of it. It defiantly looks nice, but I’ll wait until its <£20 on Amazon. The only bits I'll play will be the Singleplayer and Spec Ops, not the Multiplayer I'll have Battlefield 3 for that :)

Yeah, the PC version has a release date check that will be decrypting files from a server on Tuesday. So no crack will be possible until then. Console pirates are already playing.

Historically, I’ve been a fan of both Battlefield and Call of Duty, but ever since they turned the latter into a perennial cash cow, it’s been sliding downhill pretty rapidly. It’s quite sad, especially how Activision thinks they can steal EA’s thunder by releasing their shitty-looking launch trailer the last weekend before BF3 comes out… Everyone’s still wiping drool from their chin after watching the BF3 launch trailer, that is if they’re not still stuck in that Homer Simpson face with eyes rolled back in their head and tongue hanging out.

Not as good as the last trailer imo. However, I still refuse to pay £40 (PC version) for this, but I’ll definitely give it ago when the price is right.

Well i’m. betting what you see there is near as dammit what you’ll get on a console… Pity that *other game* hasn’t put out yet…

& did someone seriously criticize it for showing prescripted events? Lol, cuz other trailers are just thrown together random gameplay *rolls eyes, tuts*

Uh, Makarov is the primary ANTAGONIST. A.K.A., the main bad guy. A protagonist is the main character. A.K.A., Soap. Either way, looks great, and just preordered Hardened Edition this morning. Oh, and while Makarov is the one who talks about greed, Price, A.K.A. the secondary protagonist, is the one that talks about hunting him. And lastly, I believe #10 means Mapathy Trailer for MW2. That was one great trailer.

@25 No I meant Infamy but Mapathy was funny :D

@22 EA/DICE released a console trailer a while ago, specifically advertised as Xbox 360 footage. It led to some unflattering comparisons between similar footage from the PC version, but still looked way better than MW3.

Not quite as impressive as the BF3 one. And that’s even without Battelfield’s visuals factored in.

`It’s the standard. Console gamers usually get their games 2 or 3 weeks before the official release.`

So, what? Games still sell more on consoles than on PC, because piracy on PC is easy as pie :D

I really tried to like this trailer in an effort to brush away my sceptism.. Like really tried :S The only thing that made me want to buy this game was the part where Price was talking and that was mainly nostalgia :S The launch trailer was plain boring tbh, the music and what was shown told me all I needed to know.

@32: Is it? All you need to do is to intall a cracked firmware through a USB-Stick on the PS3 to play your pirated bluray games.

PC Players need to wait for a respectful crew to release a decent crack that finds a way around the protection, it’s DRM, it will take time. If it doesn’t take time, they will still release it only on the original releasedate.
