Full BF3-Jay-Z TV ad goes “above and beyond the call”
EA’s released the full-length gameplay TV ad for Battlefield 3 titled Battefield 3/ Jay-Z 99 Problem, a teaser for which was released last week.

The ad features plenty of gameplay from the title ranging from sequences featuring tanks, jets, and raw action footage with plenty of gunfire. It looks awesome. The end of the trailer has a nifty tagline which says “Above and Beyond the Call.” Take a full-blown guess what that’s about.
[Ed note: This was the full ad they showed at the end of the BF3 developer's session at Eurogamer Expo last week - Johnny]
Battlefield 3 will be releasing on October 25 in the US and October 28 for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. Watch the ad below.

Nice.
I didn’t really notice the Battlefield “foghorn” remix the first time around. I liked the bassline better.

“BATTLEFIELD 3 IS THE WINNER” – MSNBC & Everyone with right head.
This truly is set to be “above and beyond the call”.
Look at…
Battlefield 3 is praised for it’s stunning visuals and improve over bad company 2.
Modern warfare 3 is flaked for it’s visual similarities to mw2 and use of engine.
Battlefield 3 has come a long and just made a huge impact and got a lot of attention and is ticking all the right boxes. (Excluding shit like jay z music and so on but that isn’t taking away from the game itself.)
Modern warfare 3 is coming a long looking like modern warfare 2.5 (which to the core is essentially is) and basically trying to get across why it is still the best.
Fuck this shit, we finally have a game truly worthy of taking over cods place as king of the shooters. Bad Company 2 didn’t get the attention it deserved so black ops went ahead and shit all over everything. THIS IS CHANGE.

@7 Why feel the new to bring MW3 into this? This is a BF3 article and if you’re comparing the two, well, that’s just silly.

Didn’t like this trailer at all. Didn’t make me think of a large open battlefield experience like tv spots for the previous games in the series have done.

I’m sure BF is gonna continue to grow until it’s the biggest show in town again, and then people are gonna whine about that, and then that’ll give way to the next big shooter franchise, and then people will whine about that.
It’s the circle of fanboyism.

@15 i think BF will take the top spot then activation will eventually release a COD with a new engine and shit like that then COD will then take the top spot

Above and beyond the call.
I love Battlefield 3. I FUCKING LOVE IT.
But this is C.R.A.P.
Why should anybody do this shit? It’s a cheap marketing tool. Maybe it’s working, but thats just not right.
I don’t like the song, but it was a much better work than with that previous teaser.

“Above and Beyond the Call”, Gee, I wonder who they’re taking a shot at with that phrase [sarcasm]? Thought it was a great trailer, with a great use of Jay Z, much better than Eminem like a certain other game has used in years past [stares at Call of Duty]. I’ve already got this pre-ordered at GameStop, and almost can’t wait until October 25th.

I fucking hate this partisan bullshit – “Above and beyond the call”. Fuck you EA, if your game is good, it’ll stand on its own merit, you don’t need to call your competitors stupid while you do it.
On a related note, I wasn’t terribly impressed by BF3 over the weekend. Played the PC version twice and 360 once (both MP), underwhelming is probably the best word.
It might just be me not being used to the play style, but I didn’t find it fun at all. The minimap was near unusable, the scopes took up too much peripheral vision. Map on the PC didn’t help either, it was some city one, great for getting shot at from all angles.

@20: Calling the competitors bitches, or leaving any implication that EA may have been, is too much. Smart marketing phrases that avoid derogatory comments, but still help elevate the perception of a title above its peers – I’m all for that. I hope to see more of it, in fact.
The trailer synchs to the track very nicely, the whole thing is not hurried. They show the game, and I think it’s a good trailer. EA should go global with that slogan. I hope it catches on, lol.

You do? That’s weird.
I meant I didn’t enjoy it because I didn’t think it fun, not that I disliked it because I did think it was fun.

Maybe this works as a TV ad, but EA ain’t gonna reach CoD sales anyways.

People addicted to CoD are no better than the people who are addicted to WoW, these games are the reason why other games developers are getting shut down. “Above and beyond the call” is such a good slogan, and yeah it’s a cheap stab at CoD, but does it actually say “BF3 is better than CoD” nope, it lets your mind do the rest.
EA should be praised for it’s marketing.

Fucking Jay-Z…I’ll pass. That’s some of the SHIT music, good way to ruin the trailer.
