Blizzard “still passionate” about delivering StarCraft II Mod Marketplace

Blizzard producer Rob Pardo has insisted it’s still looking to bring the Mod Marketplace for StarCraft II to consumers.

“It is something we still would like to do. Hopefully before too much longer we can re-announce that,” Pardo told IGN at the recent press event for the Diablo III beta.

“But yeah, it’s still something we’re passionate about, it’s just one of those things that I think we thought was going to be easier to do than it was.”

The SCII Mod Marketplace, announced ages back, will allow players to sell custom game types to other players for a profit.

If it does eventually come, it’ll probably will drop alongside the next SCII chapter, Heart of the Swarm.

I wouldn’t say 2 years is ages ago, especially in “Blizzard Time” xD

Not sure a mod marketplace would really work for SC2. It’s a popular game but the community momentum comes from the competitive gaming scene where mods would almost never be used.

I beg to differ. For example the whole StarCraft campaign has been redone into custom maps for SC2, and there are loads of DotA, Tower defense, footman wars maps already. I would say there is a big market here.

Well they can’t be that passionate since they’ve taken their time.
@1 yes true true… but was it really two years ago?

Blizzard has always taken their time. It kind of their thing. If they didn’t care about it they wouldn’t even mention it or would throw out half baked products like their publisher’s games are usually doing.
