The Witcher 2 Easter Egg takes a swipe at Assassin’s Creed

Keep an eye out while playing The Witcher 2. Not only does Geralt find himself in all sorts of “interesting” situations, but you may recognise another famous Assassin making an appearance.

Roughly 30 minutes into the game, CD Projekt takes a jab at the “reigning king” of story-driven adventure titles, visible as Geralt strolls past a church.

At his feet, lying dead in a pile of hay, we see a familiar figure. Was this the result of a failed Leap of Faith, perhaps? Geralt doesn’t seem surprised, or upset by his discovery.

This isn’t the first time a game developer has slipped in a dig at a rival. GamesRadar points out that Duke Nukem featured the “Doomed Space Marine”, while GTA 3 referred to the “strangely animatedlead character from Driver.

With a subtitle like “Assassins of Kings”, gamers’ thoughts may well drift to Ubisoft’s leading franchise, but this Easter Egg was still an unexpected cameo.

@3: Like two times. One time they said that special forces who use Heart-Beat-Sensors are pussies and the other time i can’t really remember, but it was around the time when you’d drive the quads with your squad.
