Blizzard plots World of Warcraft guild transfer service

Do you trust your guild leader? Because he or she will soon have the power to migrate your entire guild to another server – and you’ll have to pay up to tag along.

Blizzard gave a heads-up on the planned guild relocation service on the WoW forums.

“The idea is for a guild leader to be able to transfer a guild to another realm. The guild structure remains intact, including the guild leader, guild bank, ranks, and guild name (depending on availability).”

Blizzard cautions that the guild transfer service, along with another allowing for guild name changes, are entering testing and still some way from release. As such, no pricing or cool down details have been revealed.

My contacts in Azeroth predict “macrotransactions” along with “rage”. World of Warcraft has over ten million players worldwide and balances a massive in-game economy.

Thanks, Ripten.

So, basically, the guild leader is paying Blizzard real money to alleviate 30 minutes worth of in-game bookkeeping, plus allowing them to keep whichever superfluous items in the guild bank that aren’t worth the trouble of handing out to members for transfer.

The whole idea of having to pay a fee to change a character name or transfer to a different realm is a fucking rip-off money making scheme as it is and Blizzard need to get to fucking fuck and eat a dick for it.
