StarCraft II balance changes detailed and slated for September

Friday, 27th August 2010 22:28 GMT By Stephany Nunneley

Blizzard has posted a list of balance changes in store for StarCraft II.

The largest change being made it seems, is friendly units will no longer “provide vision after being killed”, and enemy units previously revealed “will no longer be targetable”.

Additional changes include adding destructible rocks to the Desert Oasis map and in the center map, the watchtower area is “being narrowed”.

The build time for the zealot is also being increased from 33 to 38 seconds, and the warpgate cooldown is being increased from 23 to 28 seconds.

Several changes are in the works for terran, the Siege Mode damage of the siege tank is being changed from 50 to 35, +15 vs. armored, Battlecruisers will have their damage against ground units lowered from 10 to 8; Ultralisk damage is being decreased from 15, +25 vs. armored to 15, +20 vs. armored, and loads more.

The changes are expected to go into effect next month.

Blizzard also said it has mid-to long-term plans to “further evolve the Custom Game experience, and soon, enhance our social features with the addition of chat channels”.

There’s loads more over on

These are absolute bollocks – defending yourself as a Warp Gate Protoss or a Terran that uses tank we’ll be even harder than it is now. Just great.

And what about the ultralisk? I thought this unit was absolutely perfect in the ways of balance – deadly, but if put against a skilled player, easy to kill.

so basically playing protoss is impossible unless you’re a pro since any rush will rape their face now that you’re waiting 5 seconds longer per zealot.. great balance blizz! keep catering to the fucking koreans with no lives!

You don’t have to be a pro, you just have to use other things like stalkers more.

I’ve racked up over 150 wins, basically using rush tactics with protoss, but I’m not really worried about this change.

    I’ll just have to adapt…

Besides, a couple of photon cannons pretty much deals with any rush from zerg or terran, anyway.

I was gonna mention your protoss photon cannons, they can be a right cock if you get them out early enough. I’m running a Thor rush build atm and doing very well with it, regardless of your super fast Zealot creation :P
