Report – Brad Pitt lined up for Red Dead Redemption movie

According to website ShowbizSpy, Brad Pitt is being lined up for the main role of John Marston in a movie version of Red Dead Redemption.

The actor has apparently been given first refusal to the role, according to the site, although it isn’t said which studio is going to be behind the movie.

Rockstar has said the report is just a rumour, and hasn’t mentioned anything about even optioning rights to a movie of the western.

BOO! just another game-to-movie we’ll hear a few quite rumours over the next 2-3 years before hearing it’s been put on hold, then 5 years later hearing it has been canceled, seems to be the style for many game-to-movie cross overs

I think it would be hard to mess up a RDR film. The game is essentially an interactive riff on the western genre the film industry established, so telling the story should should be easy enough.

Brad Pitt is a good start.
